The Impact of Service: Reflections on Receiving The President’s Gold Volunteer Service Award

I’m incredibly honored to have received The President’s Gold Volunteer Service Award, recognizing over 833 hours of service to my community and country. Volunteering has always been an important part of my life, and this award is a meaningful reminder of how powerful giving back can be.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving in various capacities, including as Chair of the Academic Affairs Committee on the Student Advisory Board at Penn State World Campus, President and Secretary of the Board of Directors for The Children’s House of Bucks County, and as a Smart Track Peer Mentor for new students at Penn State World Campus. These roles, along with being an OMBA Student Ambassador, a Class Parent, and Secretary of the Penn State World Campus Student Government Association, have allowed me to connect with others in ways that are deeply fulfilling.

Each act of service, whether mentoring new students, supporting educational institutions, or contributing to organizations like the PMI New Jersey Chapter and the American Migraine Foundation, reinforces my belief that small, consistent efforts can make a lasting impact. Service is about more than just completing tasks—it’s about making a difference in the lives of others and contributing to something greater than ourselves.

As the letter from the President stated, we all have a role in the ongoing work of building a better future. Through service, we bring hope, light, and love to those around us, helping to solve challenges that affect us all. I’m deeply grateful for this recognition and look forward to continuing my commitment to giving back.
